Biography
Jason Mraz was born on June 23, 1977, and raised in Virginia, where his influences were a combination of musical theater, local roots musicians and the Dave Matthews Band. While he experimented with songwriting, it wasn’t until he moved to New York to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy that his love for the craft began to flourish. After just a year in the school, he dropped out to focus on songwriting full time.
After dropping out of school, Jason Mraz bounced back and forth between New York and Virginia, but eventually settled on the other side of the country in San Diego. It was here that he began to play regular gigs, and started gaining recognition for his songwriting chops.
